Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a fresh move for Harry Kane after Daniel Levy was informed the striker cannot leave Tottenham Hotspur outfit for free next summer.

Kane, who turns 30 on Friday, has less than 12 months remaining on his current deal with Tottenham. He has recently been the subject of two bids from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich. Both of the offers from Thomas Tuchel’s side were rejected, with the latest, according to the Guardian, being £70m plus add-ons.

According to various publications in the national media on Sunday night, Spurs could be forced to lower their £100m asking price of their talisman in the coming weeks with the club’s majority owner Joe Lewis informing chairman Levy that under no circumstances can Kane depart the club on a Bosman transfer in 2024.

It is now claimed Man United could reignite their interest in the England captain, who is yet to win a trophy during his professional career, Erik Ten Hag looks to add a sizable piece of the jigsaw to his Old Trafford side following the signings of Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro and Mason Mount over the last 12 months.

The report from the Guardian claims Kane had been the No.1 target for the Red Devils this summer after they secured a return to the Champions League last season, though Old Trafford officials had previously parked their interest in the forward due to the difficulties of dealing with Levy. As a result, United had been exploring a move for Atalanta’s Rasmus Højlund.

One player who appears unlikely to be potentially joining Kane at Old Trafford this summer, however, is Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe. The 24-year-old faces an uncertain future at the Parc des Princes after being left out of the club’s squad for their pre-season tour of Japan.

Mbappe’s with the Ligue 1 champions, like Kane’s, expires next summer and PSG officials are reportedly outraged with the forward due to believing he has already held discussions with Real Madrid over a free transfer to the Spanish capital next summer.

Over the weekend, Fabrizio Romano claimed such is PSG’s anger they would be willing to leave Mbappe, who has long been linked with Liverpool, on the bench for the forthcoming season and disrupt his preparation for Euro 2024 with France.
