REIMS SET TO SIGN UNION SAINT-GILLOISE MIDFIELDER TEDDY TEUMA
According to L’Équipe Maltese international midfielder Teddy Teuma (29) is set to join Stade de Reims from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise. The former Red Star FC and Boulogne man is set to sign a three-year contract, with a further year as an option. He currently has two years remaining on his contract with USG.
An attacking and versatile midfielder, Tuema played for Boulogne-sur-Mer in the National from 2015 to 2017, then joined Paris-based Red Star FC in the National before their promotion to Ligue 2 in January 2019. However, it was during his impressive four-and-a-half year spell in the Jupiler League that he really made a name for himself. The historic Brussels side, co-owned by Brighton owner Tony Bloom, has gone through a meteoric rise back to the top of Belgian and European football, with Teuma ever-present as captain.
Teuma’s contract would be worth around €4 million. The club hopes to finalise the transfer and announce the player’s arrival early next week, allowing him to take part in the next training sessions. The team is due to resume training on 6 July, after the usual two-day medical and physical assessment period on 4 and 5 July.
