Sassuolo CEO denies holding talks with Milan over Frattesi: “They haven’t asked us”

June 24, 2023

The CEO of Sassuolo, Giovanni Carnevali, has claimed that AC Milan are not one of the clubs they are in talks with over the sale of Davide Frattesi.

Milan will now have to rebuild their midfield after the sale of Sandro Tonali to Newcastle United which leaves them with only an injured Ismael Bennacer plus Rade Krunic and Tommaso Pobega capable of playing in the double pivot.

It was reported yesterday by Sky that the first contacts between the CEO of Milan Giorgio Furlani and his Sassuolo counterpart Giovanni Carnevali for Davide Frattesi took place yesterday, with a battle against Inter now underway.

Carnevali spoke during an interview with the newspaper Il Messaggero about the future of Frattesi, with his comments relayed by PianetaMilan, and seemed to deny talks with the Rossoneri.

“We’re talking to Roma, Juve and Inter. I hear about Milan, especially after the sale of Sandro Tonali, but at least up to now they haven’t asked us, while with the others the discussions are ongoing and we’ve met,” he said.

“Do Roma have an advantage? The Giallorossi have a 30% resale clause but this doesn’t condition us, also because it should be emphasised that we are not obliged to sell him, we don’t need to do so. Frattesi has not expressed any particular preferences , other than to remain in the Italian league.”
