Manchester United make plans to upgrade on Wan-Bissaka with 27 y/o Champions League finalist
Manchester United are reportedly making plans to upgrade Aaron Wan-Bissaka and already have one option on the shortlist.
It may come as a surprise to some supporters, as Wan-Bissaka has been pretty faultless when he’s taken to the pitch this season.
When Erik ten Hag arrived, he was adamant about Diogo Dalot being his first-choice right-back, with Wan-Bissaka making just one four-minute cameo prior to the World Cup.
However, when the Portugal international sustained an injury in Qatar, Ten Hag was forced to deploy his backup.
Wan-Bissaka came into the fold and looked like a revitalised version of his past self, having significantly improved on the attacking part of his game. He even ended the campaign as perhaps the manager’s favoured option on the right flank.
Ten Hag eyes Wan-Bissaka replacement
Still, Ten Hag isn’t satisfied; according to a report by The Athletic, he feels as though “an upgrade on Aaron Wan-Bissaka is required to challenge for major trophies”.
Denzel Dumfries has been earmarked as the most suitable option, as United’s scouts “rate his intelligence and athleticism highly”.
The report suggests the 27-year-old could come for a fee of £35 million. He made 50 appearances for Inter Milan across the 2022/2023 season but will play his final one this Saturday – the Champions League final against Manchester City. A win would only boost him higher in Ten Hag’s valuations!
