Christian Eriksen gives verdict on Premier League top four race
Christian Eriksen believes there could still be some twists and turns in the race for Champions League football.
That said, looking at the table at this stage, it would be a huge disappointment if Manchester United were to miss out on a place in the top four.
It only boosted our chances at the weekend when Tottenham and Newcastle dropped points, while we claimed three important points away to Nottingham Forest.
United are currently in third place in the table but there’s still some way to go before we can get comfortable.
Eriksen backed his team-mates to secure Champions League football for next season.
“It’s a very important win. I think every game from now until the end of the season is going to be very important, someone is going to drop down, someone is going to get in front, so if [we] stay on the front foot, we’ll be in a very good position,” he said, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.
“We’ll be safe for the Champions League before the season is done [if staying on front foot]. I’m sure we’ll be full of energy for both games [Brighton and Sevilla] and we’ll be full of confidence, to win the games and go through in both tournaments.”
Next up for United in the league is a tricky home tie against in-form Aston Villa.
However, there’s two big games to play before that.
A decisive quarter-final tie against Sevilla and an FA Cup semi-final against Brighton.
