West Ham United injury news drops ahead of Fulham clash

April 7, 2023

West Ham will have a relatively clean bill of health ahead of their Premier League fixture against Fulham on Saturday, according to injury expert, Ben Dinnery.

David Moyes is in desperate need of a victory after seeing his side humiliated 5-1 by Newcastle United at the London Stadium on Wednesday (5 April).

According to Dinnery (Premier injuries), Gianluca Scamacca will be the only absentee, with the Italian striker not expected to return until 20 April.

The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg has claimed (via Twitter, 6 April) the Scot’s position at the London Stadium is extremely vulnerable.

No excuses

There can be no excuses for when West Ham face Fulham on Saturday, with the squad pretty much at full fitness. In fact, there should be no excuses for the manner of the defeat against the Magpies.

Some of the goals the Hammers conceded against Eddie Howe’s side were beyond comical. Against the better teams in the league, you simply cannot defend in the way they did. Apart from a lively opening, Newcastle were well worth their win and it’s remarkable to see how the two sides’ fortunes have changed over the past year.

This weekend is another win or bust for Moyes. Fulham have enjoyed a fine return to the top flight and will be looking to inflict the fatal blow to the West Ham boss. There’s a feeling surrounding the London Stadium that the lack of an adequate replacement is preventing Moyes from being sacked.

However, at this point, surely some fresh ideas, even from a caretaker, could see a consistent run of form finally emerge.
