‘IT’S A SHAME’: TIM SHERWOOD CRITICAL OF TOTTENHAM’S HARRY KANE AFTER DRAW AT EVERTON

Tim Sherwood says it was a ‘shame’ at how Harry Kane reacted when he was pushed in the face by Abdoulaye Doucoure during Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-1 draw at Everton on Monday night at Goodison Park.

Early in the second half, Harry Kane proceeded to continue to challenge Abdoulaye Doucoure near the dugout, even though the on-field referee, David Coote, had blown his whistle.

That seemed to annoy the Everton midfielder, who at first, proceeded to push the Tottenham striker in the chest, before pushing him in his face and being issued with a straight red card.

The England captain clutched his face and was flat on the floor after that incident, whilst it was a clear red card, he clearly tried to milk the whole situation.

It’s fair to say that the Everton fans didn’t take too kindly to Kane’s reaction, as he was booed when he got up and every time he touched the ball.

After Seamus Coleman criticised Kane for staying down ‘too long’, his former manager reacted to those comments and stated that it’s part of the modern game now, as he told Premier League Productions .

“Honestly, it’s a shame, I think that’s where we are in the modern game. If Harry doesn’t hit the floor, then he probably doesn’t send off Doucoure, and then Tottenham don’t come out with the advantage.

“I think it’s gamesmanship now, it’s what the modern player does.”

CORRECT CALLS MADE

Abdoulaye Doucoure’s sending-off wasn’t the only red card shown, as Lucas Moura was also given his marching orders for his late tackle on Michael Keane – the player’s wife has since come out and defended the winger.

Either way, both calls were correct, and whilst Michael Keane got up pretty much straight away after his ankle was nearly broken, Kane stayed on the floor.
