‘Not very humble’ – Manchester United starlet Alejandro Garnacho told to ‘shut up and learn’ after trolling Barcelona

Alejandro Garnacho has been told to ‘shut up’ and ‘stop talking nonsense’ after the Manchester United starlet took aim at Barcelona following their Europa League exit.

United sealed a thrilling 4-3 aggregate victory over the La Liga leaders to book their place in the last 16 of the competition.

After a 2-2 draw at the Camp Nou, United came from behind with Fred and Antony on the score sheet to seal the win at Old Trafford.

Garnacho, on as a second-half sub, played his part in the win with his shot on goal blocked before Antony curled home what would be the tie’s winning goal.

The Madrid-born winger aimed a cheeky dig at Barcelona in the aftermath, sharing a picture of his celebrations at Old Trafford along with the caption: ‘The big team passes the round’.

The 18-year-old, who has been called into the senior Argentina squad for upcoming fixtures, has now been slammed for his post-match behaviour.

Former La Albiceleste international Carlos Morete, who racked up 250 appearances for River Plate, Boca Juniors and Independiente, took exception over the youngster’s ‘rude’ behaviour.

‘Garnacho is rude, not very humble,’ Morete told D Sports Radio, TyC Sports report.

‘When they eliminated Barcelona, ​​he said that the big team won. He was playing against Barça, not against Getafé. I hope the kid gets off the horse, shuts up, doesn’t talk nonsense and learns.’

Barcelona boss Xavi was also unimpressed with Garnacho’s dig.

When quizzed on the incident, the Barcelona manager said: ‘It is a difficult question to answer. When the player is happy, all the anger and different injustices towards you come out. Each one expresses it as it comes out. There is a bit of empathy missing.

‘I think you have to celebrate with your teammates and not celebrate as a provocation for the other.’

United take on more Spanish opposition this week in Real Betis in the first leg of their last 16 tie against Manuel Pellegrini’s side. Erik ten Hag’s side are reeling from a 7-0 thrashing at Liverpool on Sunday.
