Roma and Galatasaray Change Final Terms of Zaniolo Deal

February 9, 2023

Nicolò Zaniolo officially completed his move to Galatasaray late on Wednesday. The conditions of the transfer are a little different compared to the early reports. The Giallorossi could potentially cash in a decent sum, but a lot of it hinges on the add-on and a future sale.

Per Gianluca Di Marzio, the Cimbom will pay a €16.5M fee plus €13M bonus, half of it easy to achieve. The capital side will get €2M in case of a future transfer with a fee above €20M, and 20 percent of the difference between such sum and €16.5M. Moreover, they obtained an option for youngsters Yusuf Demir and Hamza Akman.

According to Calciomercato, Roma and Galatasaray will play a friendly whose earnings will be donated to those struck by the earthquake as part of the Zaniolo deal. The attacker has a €35M release clause in his contract, which will decrease over the years, Alfredo Pedullà informs. The figure will be negotiable if he wants out. Milan will attempt to sign him again in the summer. Rossoneri director Paolo Maldini reached out to him late in the window to thank him for giving them his priority.

Roma CEO Tiago Pinto alluded that he would have replaced the Italian starlet had he moved before deadline day. The attacker he had in hand was Sassuolo’s Hamed Traoré. He would have joined for about €20M, Corriere dello Sport relays. Instead, he transferred to Bournemouth after the 23-year-old turned them down. The Giallorossi will have to lean on their current players, or sign a free agent, to fill the void.
