4-2-3-1: Man United strongest starting lineup against Leicester City

November 10, 2024

Manchester United are in their final game under the stewardship of interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy.

A game against Leicester City in the Premier League at Old Trafford should be fairly straightforward on paper but nothing can be taken for granted.

The Red Devils have had a decent upturn in form since Erik ten Hag was fired. The new manager bounce, you could say, but the tactical shape seems to have significantly improved under Ruud van Nistelrooy who hasn’t made many changes in formation.

Ruud will want to sign off with yet another victory and here is how we think the interim manager could set Man United up against Leicester City in the Premier League. A dominant display would be the perfect way to move onto the Ruben Amorim era.

Man United expected 4-2-3-1 starting lineup vs Leicester
Andrea Onana is set to start as the goalkeeper between the posts. He has had a good season so far and will want to continue on the same path against the Foxes.

In front of him is likely to be a backline of Diogo Dalot from the right, Noussair Mazraoui from the left and Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez forming the central axis.

Ruud van Nistelrooy has preferred to go with the midfield duo partnership of Manuel Ugarte and Casemiro so far, with the former acting as a pure ball-winner and the latter playing as more box-to-box presence.
Bruno Fernandes, whose form has turned for the better under Ruud is set to captain and start as the #10 on the night. From the right, Amad Diallo is likely to get a spot after his impressive midweek display and from the left, Marcus Rashford should get the nod.

As the striker, Rasmus Hojlund is nailed in to start and the Dane will be keen to get better and become more consistent with finding the back of the net. All the players on the pitch today will know that Ruben Amorim will be watching and will want to make an impression.

Let’s wait and see how Man United fare against Leicester City. It is an important game in the context of the season and only time will tell how it plays out.
