£26M STAR TIPPED FOR ARSENAL OR TOTTENHAM AND HE IS ‘NO WORSE THAN ODEGAARD’

November 14, 2023

Former Russia boss Leonid Slutsky believes Aleksandr Golovin would fit in at Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal and he is ‘no worse’ than Martin Odegaard.

With the possible and rather obvious exception of Kylian Mbappe, is there a more in-form player in France’s top flight right now? A return of seven goals or assists in 11 Ligue 1 appearances so far this term for Monaco speaks for itself, even if the statistics only scratch the surface of his influence at the Stade Louis II.

Aleksandr ‘Sasha’ Golovin, Monaco coach Adi Hutter said after his star man scored one and set up the other in a 2-0 win agaisnt Brest last week, is in ‘exceptional’ nick. And there’s still room for improvement too. A scary thought indeed.

Golovin good enough for Tottenham and Arsenal
“He really is in top form currently,” Hutter tells Get France Football News. “He is a fantastic player and I hope that he will continue to be decisive. I think he can do even better. He is one of the best players in the league.”

Slutsky, who coached Golovin during his time in charge of the Russian national team, sees no reason why the former CSKA Moscow talisman cannot be ‘one of the best’ in the Premier League too.

Only a few days after one of Golovin’s ex-CSKA team-mates tipped the 27-year-old for a move to Liverpool, Slutsky mentioned Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal as potential destinations for a man who, when it comes to pure creativity, would give even Gunners skipper Martin Odegaard a run for his money.

‘No worse than Odegaard’
“I can say for sure that, in the form which Sasha is in now, he would not get lost at Tottenham or Arsenal,” Slutsky, Odegaard’s one-time Vitesse Arnhem boss.

“With all my love for Martin Odegaard, I can say that Golovin is no worse (than him) now.”

Without James Maddison potentially until the New Year, Spurs could be reduced to relying upon the perennially seldom-seen and exit-linked Giovanni lo Celso in the coming weeks. Odegaard, meanwhile, is yet to rediscover the brilliance of last term, only one assist in 15 games across all competitions.
